Terryglass is a village set in the northern part of County Tipperary with the Irish translation – T*r Dha Ghlas meaning “land of the two streams”. Terryglass offers two pubs and behind Paddy’s Pub is a wall, which once belonged to an abbey. The village has two historic wells * the ‘Eyewell’ and the ‘Headache well’, which are both said to have healing powers, plus every August the Terryglass Arts Festival takes place.
‘Paddy’s Bar’ and ‘The Derg Inn’ in Terryglass offer a free collect and return service for your nights out.
Terryglass Harbour offers the opportunity to BBQ, enjoy a picnic, feed the ducks, use the playground or simply relax and enjoy the lakeside views.
Portumna Castle and Gardens
This semi-fortified house at Portumna was built before 1618 and was gutted by fire in 1826. The ground floor of the house is now open to the public and contains information panels and a DVD presentation. To the north of the house are formal geometrically laid out gardens. The recently restored 17th century walled kitchen garden, organically planted with fruit trees, flowers, herbs and vegetables, is a treat to the senses. Opening Times: April – End of Sept 10am – 6pm. Portumna Forest Park
Portumna Forest Park is located on the shores of Lough Derg and features many amenities covering some 1100 acres. Amenities and facilities include picnic areas, toilets and a host of different trails including an impressive wheelchair and buggy friendly walkway and viewing platform suitable for people with special needs.
Portumna Golf Club
