Brass Castle is one of our flagship large luxury holiday houses. Set in over 100 acres of private estate, the handsome exterior is that of a classic traditional Yorkshire farmhouse. Inside you’ll find beautiful design-led interiors with a contemporary feel throughout, combined with the latest technology bringing you the very best in home comforts.
At the heart of the home is the large farmhouse kitchen, an exquisite room featuring sleek black granite work-tops, a kitchen island and a large dining table set beside a wood-burning stove. On arrival you’ll find a luxurious welcome hamper filled with some delicious local delicacies including some treats from the world-famous Bettys!
The duck-egg blue cupboards and dressers are well-stocked with all the cooking equipment, crockery and glassware you’ll need for every occasion and two ovens will ensure you don’t run out of space. To keep those bottles of bubbly nice and cold there’s a double American-style fridge in addition to a normal fridge – a dishwasher is also provided. Underfloor heating keeps your toes toasty warm and the views from the kitchen sink are to die for. A utility / boot-room sits next door with access to the garden and a handy downstairs cloakroom.
In addition to the dining table in the kitchen, you’ll find a formal dining room set next door. This sophisticated room has a country house feel and is the perfect backdrop to those special celebrations. Settle down to a candlelit dinner in here which stretches long into the night.
At the opposite end of the house is the generous sitting room. A stylish mix of greys and purples this huge room has ample seating for everyone and a roaring open fire to curl up in front of. (All logs are provided) There’s a large curved SMART TV for those family movie nights and more traditional entertainment is provided in the form of books and board games. Again the views down the valley from this room are breath-taking.
Downstairs is also home to a sun-filled conservatory which sits at the front of the house and affords uninterrupted views of the garden and Dales beyond. Just behind this room is the games room home to a pool table and bar area, perfect for gathering around with a cocktail before dinner. The house is also fitted with a state-of-the-art Sonos sound system streaming songs from Napster into any room you choose. Wi-Fi is available too.
There are 6 bedrooms in Brass Castle, the first of which sits on the ground floor. This charming room has a super-king size bed which can also be configured as two singles if preferred. This room has access to its own dressing room and stunning wet-room, just along the hall. The remaining bedrooms are set up the grand staircase, complete with a chandelier and dramatic curved wall featuring a scene from the local Fewston reservoir.
The master bedroom sits at the front of the house and has been given a more traditional look. Solid dark wood and a king-size sleigh bed gives the room a grown-up appeal. The en-suite bathroom is equally impressive with its monsoon shower and roll-top bath. All of the remaining bedrooms upstairs have their own unique style with 4 of them enjoying king-size beds. They also all have their own TVs and en-suite wet rooms. One of the remaining bedrooms also has its own separate lounge area.
There is much to enjoy outside this fabulous property too, including the hot tub set by the sitting room French doors. Sink into the warm bubbles and enjoy the spectacular scenery beyond! In addition to a patio area with outdoor furniture and a BBQ, the large private garden has a lush green lawn which sweeps away to a duck pond at the bottom. The entire garden enjoys uninterrupted views of the estate and Washburn valley beyond. There is a tennis court available by arrangement and for those special occasions, a Treehouse complete with its own wood-burner within the grounds can be hired for catered parties.

Set in gated private grounds within a larger 100-acre private Yorkshire estate, Brass Castle enjoys a stunning elevated position overlooking the Washburn Valley in Nidderdale. In addition to the large garden, there are miles of moorland and woodland walks right from the doorstep taking in some spectacular local scenery. This area is particularly well known for its reservoirs and you can see several from the headlands surrounding the house.
The area is heaven for walkers who can explore the local estate and beyond without having to jump in the car. It’s equally good for cycling enthusiasts, with miles of challenging road and off-road routes nearby. The Estate is happy to arrange for cycles during your stay if you are unable to bring your own.
And if you like to keep one foot on urban ground, head down into Ilkley for the day. Highly regarded for its stylish architecture and beautiful floral displays, there’s plenty to see and do in this elegant Victorian town. Take a turn around the gardens down by the river, indulge in afternoon tea at Betty’s, explore the many independent shops and boutiques, making sure you pick up something yummy for tea and the several up-market delis in town. And for the nights when cooking seems like too much effort, book dinner in the Michelin-starred Box Tree or head for an Italian on the cool roof Terrace of Piccolinos. Nearby Otley is also a charming Yorkshire town and Chevin Forest park is a great place to blow off some steam.
Venture across to nearby Pateley Bridge, a charming little market town very typical of this area of Yorkshire. The Main Street is peppered with cafes, restaurants, local stores, quality butchers and a fantastic wine shop – everything you need to stock up for your stay. You’ll also find the self-proclaimed ‘Oldest Sweet Shop in England’ here dating back to the early 1800s – little has changed inside since then.
Brass Castle is also just 20 minutes from the cosmopolitan Spa town of Harrogate, a must during any visit to this area. Encircled by its famous ‘Stray’ or ‘1,000 acres’ of horseshoe shaped grassland, Harrogate has a bright and breezy open air feel and is characterised by its impressive floral displays.And as you would expect of such a bustling upbeat town, Harrogate boasts over 300 bars andrestaurants together with all the shops, swimming pools, cinemas, parks and gardens you could ever wish for. Don’t leave without indulging in a Fat Rascal and cup of Yorkshire Tea at Bettys!
And if you want to explore Yorkshire’s cities, Leeds is just a short drive away and is packed with designer shops, cafes and top notch restaurants. Other nearby attractions include Harewood House, Bolton Abbey and the RHS Gardens at Harlow Carr. There is just so much to see and do here!
